Last season, Mol was the setting for the first encounter between Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel. The Dutchman came out on top after a dazzling performance. In the Women Elite race, Lucinda Brand went solo after three laps. She won convincingly around the Zilvermeer, ahead of Shirin van Anrooij. Women Elite
Halfway through the race in Mol, Alvarado started gradually to pick up the pace. Dutch champion Brand resisted the longest, but come the final lap, Alvarado was sure of her victory. Alvarado took her fourth win of the season, consolidating her first place in the ranking.
Men Elite
Victory number 32 in the oldest points-based criterium was how Mathieu van der Poel kicked off his season in the Telenet Superprestige. By the halfway point, the world champion had left everyone trailing in his wake and finished solo with a one-minute advantage over Laurens Sweeck. Michael Vanthourenhout took third place, a minute and a half behind the winner.
