Laurens Sweeck proved to be the strongest in the Telenet Superprestige race in Diegem. The Belgian fought an intense duel with Thibau Nys on the last lap. The European champion experienced problems with his pedal in the sprint and eventually finished third behind Niels Vandeputte.

World champion Van der Poel demonstrates in Mol
Victory number 32 in the oldest points-based criterium was how Mathieu van der Poel kicked off his season in the Telenet Superprestige. By the halfway point, the world champion had left everyone trailing in his wake and finished solo with a one-minute advantage over Laurens Sweeck. Michael Vanthourenhout took third place, a minute and a half behind the winner.

Alvarado best on the sand course of Mol
Halfway through the race in Mol, Alvarado started gradually to pick up the pace. Dutch champion Brand resisted the longest, but come the final lap, Alvarado was sure of her victory. Alvarado took her fourth win of the season, consolidating her first place in the ranking.

Last year, the evening cyclo-cross in Diegem was not just the playground of Van der Poel and Pieterse—the gap between the two elite races was filled with the inaugural edition of the Turbo Cross. This year, many familiar faces are preparing for a new Turbo Cross. Brothers Average Rob and Arno The Kid are giving the spectacle a fresh twist.
