Ruddervoorde is the backdrop for Joran Wyseure's first Superprestige victory

Joran Wyseure achieved his very first victory in the Telenet Superprestige in Ruddervoorde. The West Fleming launched an attack two laps from the end and held off Niels Vandeputte and European champion Michael Vanthourenhout.

Niels Vandeputte (Alpecin-Deceuninck) had the best start in Ruddervoorde. Along with Joran Wyseure (Crelan-Corendon), Kevin Kühn (Charles Liégeois Roastery CX), and European champion Michael Vanthourenhout (Pauwels Sauzen – Bingoal), he created a small gap at the end of the first lap.

Wyseure clearly felt at ease. He accelerated again in the second lap and broke away alone. Michael Vanthourenhout followed a few seconds behind, while Vandeputte, Kuhn, and Nys were looking at double that gap after two laps.

Half a lap later, Vanthourenhout managed to join Wyseure at the front of the race. In the chase, Gerben Kuypers (Charles Liégeois Roastery CX), Niels Vandeputte, and Thibau Nys (Baloise Trek Lions) successfully combined their efforts. Thus, by the start of the fourth lap, we had five leaders. Later, Lars van der Haar (Baloise Trek Lions), Felipe Orts (Ridley Cycling Team), Jenthe Michels (Alpecin-Deceuninck), and Kevin Kühn also rejoined.

Gerben Kuypers showed himself to be the driving force at the front, but no one could easily break away. With three laps to go, it seemed the front group would finally split. Vanthourenhout was the only one able to keep pace with Kuypers. Vandeputte, Wyseure, and Van der Haar trailed a few seconds behind, but half a lap later, the accordion tightened again.

The next to seize his chance was Joran Wyseure. As he crossed the finish line, he received a nice lead gift from his competitors. Meanwhile, a rain shower had made the course increasingly slippery.

Wyseure started the final lap with a 12-second lead over Michael Vanthourenhout, but a few corners later, he crashed. Vanthourenhout and Vandeputte came dangerously close, but Wyseure managed to successfully complete his solo ride. He claimed his first victory in the Telenet Superprestige in Ruddervoorde. Vandeputte and Vanthourenhout completed the podium.
